  • What was the reason for developing a dedicated repair program?
    • Defective junction boxes bear the risk of catching fire. Especially in the case of in-roof-systems this can have dramatic effects and cause severe damage. Through the TÜV qualified repair method this risk can be eliminated.

  • How can I know if my PV-system belongs to the affected installations?
    • Not all Scheuten Solar Modules were equipped with the defective junction box type. By comparing the modul serial numbers with the list of affected modules we can identify if you have installed modules with / or without defective junction boxes.

  • Can I enter my data per telephone?
    • No, the serial number check has to happen electronically. This eliminates mistakes and ensures accurate results. The site-check-form is directly linked to the database of affected modules and offers a simple and reliable check process.

  • What if I don’t have all necessary data?
    • The serial numbers are the most important pieces of information. They can be found in your site documentation. Other data can be retrieved later if repair visits need to be arranged.

  • How do I know if my data was received?
    • Your entry is directly recorded in our ticketing system. In case your installation is affected you will receive an acknowledgment mail.

  • What is the further process?
    • In case your installation is affected you will be contacted by the Suncycle Service Team to discuss possible repair options. For that reason it is important that we receive your complete contact details. Repair is advised because you not only risk the destruction of your installation but you also lose the coverage of your building insurance in case you don’t repair the problem.

  • Who is Suncycle?
    • Suncycle offers specialized test and repair services for the solar industry. With more than 1.000.000 repaired modules owns Suncycle a unique experience in customer service and maintenance. The PV test center in central Germany is equipped with the newest instruments and our service teams are available Europe-wide.

  • With which cost am I confronted?
    • The registration is of course without costs. In case your site is affected Suncycle will offer to perform the necessary repair. In case your site is judged as “high risk” there are insurance funds available to cover some of the involved costs. This will be discussed after analyzing your individual site profile.

  • How much are the costs that can occur?
    • The registration of course is free of charge. In the case your pv system is considered to be at risk Suncycle will make an offer to you for the repairs. In individual cases, a cost sharing by the concerned insurance is possible for pv systems which are at especially high risk.

  • Do I have to disconnect my system?
    • Basically, we recommend to have the pv system disconnected (from the grid/feed-in) by an expert in order to avoid further damaging to the junction boxes and to reduce the risk of an electric arcing. The system should be restarted only after having it repaired.

  • When will the repair works on my modules be done?
    • The repair works of our teams all over Europe have already started. Due to the quantity of the affected systems the works will take several months. The works will take place in many countries, from Greece to Great Britain and from Italy to Denmark. We prioritize according to risk categories and plan our works to regions. In addition to our standard repair process we are able to offer you an express repair at our location near to Erfurt.

  • What do I have to do previously in order to set up a date for the repairs?
    • Suncycle has to be commissioned accordingly by the owner of the system or by the installer. With this commission the works and the payment shall be planned, scheduled and regulated. In order to facilitate the process Suncycle provides a request form online by which you can ask for a quotation for one or more systems. The earlier the repair works will be ordered the earlier we will be able to plan and schedule the execution of the works.

  • Can I speed up the process?
    • In addition to a fast commissioning you have the option to send your pv modules to the Suncycle PV Performance Centre in Isseroda (express repair). So to say there we are working all around the clock and we can assure you an immediate processing. Instead of waiting for the repairs on site, in our service centre the modules can be repaired fastest possible. The costs for the repairs are reduced but expenses for the transport will occur.

  • Who will bear the costs?
    • An important issue, of course, is the question of who will bear the costs. Today there is only a possible cost sharing on the site of the liability insurance of the insolvent Scheuten Solar Holding to the extent and insofar as the insurance coverage is not reached. Nevertheless, any operator of one or more pv systems should consider eventual claims arising from the personal insurance coverage (s. point 6). Alternatively, the installer could be obligated to perform warranties and can possibly be claimed for damages or the installer offers you active support during the course of the execution of the repair works. In the case that there are no positive answers the costs have to be borne by the operator. We recommend to commission the repairs as soon as possible in order to avoid further damages and to place the claims on reimbursement towards the insurance company afterwards.

  • How many costs will occur?
    • At the moment we calculate with costs of 25-35 EUR for the repair works per each module. Perhaps it will be necessary to replace single and already damaged PCBs. In such a case for each PCB to be replaced 15 EUR will occur. Furthermore, expenses will arise caused by the necessity that the panels have to be removed and reinstalled. These costs will be variable depending on the object (scaffolding, eaves heights, type of roof and inclination) and hence, those have to be calculated individually. The repairs executed within our service centre can be offered at a price of less than 20 EUR plus costs and expenses for the transport and possibly required PCBs, if applicable.   • Insurance coverage
    • We often hear from the insurance companies that they don’t have any idea yet how many customers are concerned. The insurance companies approach in different ways to claims already asserted extending from categoric refusal (removal of defects) up to accommodating acceptance (mitigation obligation). Concerning this matter we can mention in a positive light the Insurance company Mannheimer which hold out the prospect of a cost sharing. In order to be able to offer help to the customers with affected Scheuten modules we would like you to provide information on insurance matters additionally to the information concerning registration of the system by updating the data of your profile on our website. The following points can be added:
      - Name of the insurance company
      – Do you have concluded a special pv insurance agreement (electronics coverage) or is the system covered within the building insurance agreement?
      - Number of the insurance policy (if applicable)
      The standard insurance agreement usually “only” covers the consequential damages after a damage has occurred (e.g. fire) and not the costs for preventive repair measures. But of course, the insurance companies are interested in avoiding damages and especially in cases of injuries to persons subsequent demands would exceed the amounts arising for precautionary repairs by far. Suncycle will communicate with the insurance companies in order to find a solution in favour of the customers and in order to obtain at least a partial acceptance of the costs. Any assured person should not predicate the execution of the repairs on the success of these efforts. Occurred costs can be reimbursed at a later time as well. Besides to the questions concerning acceptance of costs we take care of the on-going existence of your current insurance agreement after the rectifications have been completed.   • What is Suncycle standing for?
    • Suncycle as an independent service company has performed extensive and expensive tests for a sustainable repair solution and on its own expenses. These have been carried out at first with the TÜV according to the applicable norms and standards and after the NVWA (product safety agency of the Netherlands) has raised objections the tests have been executed and carried out at the Fraunhofer Institute even under stricter control. The results show clearly that the repair method developed by Suncycle grants a sustainable elimination of the cause of damage in comparison with the original junction box. Suncycle has been chosen and suggested by Scheuten as a reliable and professional service provider but it is not acting on behalf of Scheuten but offers the tested method as independent service provider on its own account.

  • Which guarantee is given by Suncycle?
    • Syncycle will execute the repairs on your modules on the basis of the qualified processes and methods and shall be liable for the proper execution. Our quality controls and complete documentation offer best possible safety for an operation without damages. Being qualified by means of the rigorous examination by the regulatory authority underlines the demand on specialised rectification of the damage. Suncycle grants a guarantee of 2 years for the performed works. We’d appreciate your understanding that we do not assume the original warranties granted by the producer.

  • What has to be done now?
    • Insofar as not been done yet you should complete the information concerning your pv system on our webpage and add the data to any existing insurance agreement, if applicable.
